What is culture?
Something that is share by all or almost all members of the same social group
Something that the older members of the group try to pass on to the younger members
Something that shapes behavior, or structures one's perception of the word
In an organization culture needs to fit the needs of it external environment, so that employees find it easy to implement the companies strategy successfully
Culture must be grounded in values practices and behavioral norms
High performance cultures create an atmosphere in which there is constructive pressure to be the best
Employees learn what is valued most in an organization by watching what attitudes and behaviors leaders pay attention to and reward and whether the leaders' own behavior matches the espoused values
